School Garden

Our school garden is partof our outdoor learning space. We have a polytunnel, which can fit a fullclass, three raised beds, a woodland area, bird feeders and nesting boxes, apond and wildflower meadows scattered around our school grounds.

In the past, our schoolhas won numerous awards, including being a 5 star RHS School Gardening Schooland as part of the Meath County Council Pride of Place Scheme.

Students take part in lessons outdoors throughout the year and we have a lunch time gardening club in the final term when our food is growing. Recently we grew tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, carrots, pumpkins and sweetcorn in our tunnel and potatoes outside.

We also seek their views in relation to safety at school each year, as part of the child safeguarding statement and anti-bullying procedures (Bí Cineálta) and around how the school operates in general. Their voices carry weight and have led to changes in how learning and teaching happen, including moving to more lessons outdoors.
