Mr. Dineen's 1st and 2nd class is a combined class. There is also another separate 1st class (Ms. Collins) and another separate 2nd class (Mrs. Connor and Mrs. Haigney). This is due to the number of children at each class level. The additional combined class was introduced to create a lower student teacher ratio for this school year. Both classrooms are located beside each other.

The subjects that 1st and 2nd class engage in are:

• Primary Language Curriculum (English agus Gaeilge)
• Mathematics
• Social, Environmental and Scientific Education (SESE) (history, geography and science)
• The Arts (visual arts, drama and music)
• Social, Personal and Health Education (SPHE)
• Physical Education (PE)
• Patron's Programme

While there are other 1st and 2nd class students in other classes, all four teachers plan collaboratively and the two class groups do come together for activities, including Christmas plays, sports coaching, outdoor play, sacramental preparation, school tours and other events throughout the year. This is important so they keep up their friendships with students in the other classes and also as the full class group may come back together in the future or be reconfigured with other students in it.
