The Erasmus Outdoor Learning and Risky Play project involving our school and schools in the Czech Republic, Belgium and Slovenia comes to an end this term. Research from the project on its impact on pupils, carried out in Ireland by Dublin City University, will be published shortly and shared with the school community.
While the project ends, the play and outdoor learning continues in our school. Play based learning continues in junior and senior infants and has been extended to first class this year. In addition, both fourth classes continue an outdoor learning project from last year, fifth class pupils manage our school hens and all classes will have opportunities to engage in playful learning outdoors.
Finally, the outdoor play area is now also being used as part of yard time so that all pupils get to play in the space.
We are very grateful to the Board of Management and Parent’s Association for funding resources and structures in our play are to help make all the magic happen.
